Scotch Beef Mince

Preparation:

Cooking:

500g minced beef

1 onion, sliced or coarsely chopped

2 or 3 carrots cut into thick batons

125ml full bodied red wine (optional)

Water

Salt & pepper to taste

Quaker Oats

Add to basket

Quickly fry the minced beef to seal.

Transfer to a casserole and add the onion, carrots and red wine (if used).

Add water to cover.

Season to taste. 

Cover with a lid of foil and fit the casserole lid on top, forming a good seal. 

Cook in the oven at 180°C for 1 hour and a quarter. 

Remove from oven, check seasoning and stir in a good handful of Quaker Oats. Allow to stand for at least five minutes before serving with mashed potato or a good chunk of bread.
