Country Apple Pie

Preparation:

Cooking:

For pears:

  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 tsp or more of lemon zest 
  • ½ lemon juice from freshly squeezed lemon
  • 1 c regular sugar
  • 1/2 c brown sugar
  • 2 to 3 tbsp of honey
  • 2 to 3 tbsp of syrup (maple is real good)
  • 1 tsp or more of cinnamon or 1 tsp apple pie spice and ½ tsp cinnamon ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • ½ tsp of black pepper
  • 2 tbsp of flour
  • 2 tbsp butter 

For topping:

  • 2 cups of Quaker Oats
  • 3/4 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/3 to 1/ 2 c of butter
  • 1/2 C fine chopped pecans (optional)
Add to basket

Use Pet Ritz deep dish crust for bottom.

Cut enough (pears, apples, or peaches) in this case apples to fill to brim deep dish apple Ritz crust about 4 cups (Macintosh, Jonathan or good ones also your granny smith or yellow  apples)  --- I use whatever I have at the time but like Jonathan the best !

Mix all ingredients well in big bowl put in deep dish pet Ritz pie crust.

Mix all ingredients well and spread evenly over fruit mixture in pie crust add optional chopped pecans by sprinkling evenly over pie. 

Bake at 325 to 350 degrees for about 45 min to 1 hr until top crust is brown
